ROLLING STONE KOREA INTERVIEW
*Rolling Stone Korea Interview with Edward Lee and Jada Lee, Founders of Alpha Motor Corporation
With a Vision to Move Humanity: Alpha Motor Corporation
Recently, the Seoul Mobility Show was held at KINTEX in Goyang City. The event, which will be held for the first time in two years, attracted a large crowd. There was an electric car that caught the attention of visitors, which was Alpha Motor's electric pickup truck "Wolf." Wolf resembles a pickup truck that was often seen in the 1980s and 1990s, but has a modern simplicity. So Rolling Stone Korea met with Alpha Motor's representative and heard the details about it.
1. [RSK] Hello, Chairman Edward Lee! Nice to meet you through an interview with Rolling Stone Korea. Please introduce yourself and say hello to Rolling Stone Korea subscribers.
Hello Rolling Stone Korea! I’m Edward Lee, Founder, Chairman & CEO of Alpha Motor Corporation (Alpha). I am a Korean American automotive designer with over 20 years of industry experience. My past works include the Lexus LC production and LF-LC concept flagship luxury coupes. In addition to executive leadership roles, I am responsible for Alpha’s vehicle designs with a goal to successfully commercialize our EVs.
I believe design encompasses all disciplines of commercialization including R&D, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, sales, after-service, and customer experience. Alpha was established in 2020 and founded by me and Jada Lee, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of the Board.
Alpha Motor Corporation (Alpha) is an award-winning American automobile company focused on manufacturing mobility solutions that Move Humanity®. We innovate sustainable transportation for the wellness of people and our environment by implementing advanced automotive technologies and disruptive industrial practices. Based in Irvine, California, Alpha is committed to creating the kinds of electric vehicles we believe the world has always wanted to see but that have not existed – until now.
2. [RSK] Alpha Motors participated in the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show. I wonder how you feel about finishing the event successfully.
I appreciate the generous feedback on Alpha’s exhibition in Seoul. It feels great to receive the kind of support that we experienced from visitors and from people of all ages. Over 500,000 people attended the mobility show, which we believe means Korea is passionate about cars and automotive culture. This is critical to the future of transportation because we exist to provide the kind of mobility solutions that people desire to own.
3. [RSK] What features does Wolf, Wolf Plus have?
The Wolf trucks have a simple body-on-frame construction that is focused on functionality which features a spacious interior, cargo space underneath the hood, and a standard 6ft load bed.
The Wolf DNA is straight forward – elevated ride height with 240mm ground clearance, 2:6 cabin to body ratio, stretched wheelbase, short overhangs, attached bumpers, boxy profile, smooth body, 7” circular LED headlamps, and rectangular RCL.
The Wolves are built on Alpha’s next generation modular electric vehicle platform which includes powerful and efficient lithium-ion battery technology and can be configured to integrate a single motor RWD or an AWD dual motor system.
Alpha’s chassis features a proportionally adjustable ladder frame, independent suspension, and electronic steering. We are targeting a drivable range capacity of 250 to 300+ miles on a fully charged battery pack.
4. [RSK] What are the advantages of Alpha Motors that differentiate themselves from other EV brands?
We are creating a legacy of our own - Next Generation Classic Cars, built accessible for people to enjoy.
Our research indicates that the current EV market is saturated towards producing luxury cars featuring experimental technology and aesthetics, which also seemingly has been the norm since the early 2000s.
Alpha is moving away from overloaded design and complex features. We are focusing on the soul of driving and bringing imagination back into the equation of owning an electric vehicle.
It is time for revolution in clean mobility and it is our belief that Alpha made history at the Seoul Mobility Show as the first automotive company to exhibit two EV trucks, Wolf, and Wolf Plus. Our products are original, they are 100% designed by Alpha in California.
5. [RSK] I heard Alpha has multiple awards for electric vehicle system technology and would love to hear more about this!
